Other exciting news

The Peter I team is preparing payment of the first vessel deposit within short time. The payment along with shipment of the container shows our commitment to activate Peter I Øy, currently ranked as #7 on the Clublog most wanted list.

With a total budget in the order of $1,95M we do need to raise a significant amount of donations to execute this expedition in short time, in the order of $350,000.

While the majority of the budget is for chartering the vessel and two helicopters, we do have significant cost related to the Expedition guides that will secure camp build up. Camping on Peter I Øy involves a higher risk compared to other places. For that reason we have contracted three glacier specialists. In addition we are teaming up with EYOS who is a full voting member of IAATO. EYOS will supply us with an experienced Expedition guide who was on Peter I Island 7 months ago. Having access to EYOS, who have executed more than 800+ expeditions to Antarctica is a huge advantage. Bringing a guide who has been on the island this season, means we have access to the best possible information.

With an impressing setup of multiple 3 to 5 element yagis on higher bands, in addition to the Top band express antennas on 160/80,  high power amplifiers and Flex Aurora and ICOM radios, the team is doing what we can to be prepared for the pileup. With a QTH that has clear take off in all major directions like America, Europe and most parts of Asia this is set to be an exciting adventure. We do have a seat for 1 more operator – but deadline for applying is coming to an end very soon.
